      YOUTH EDUCATION

Children are our future. Education makes that future bright and productive.

On the other hand, a lack of quality education torpedoes student motivation and academic performance, leading to dropouts, delinquency, drug abuse and crime.

JOI has consistently invested in education for disadvantaged youth by augmenting

existing infrastructure. The jewel in our crown is STEP (School Enhancement Teaching Plan), which invests capital, curriculum and consulting costs in under-funded schools. Computer, English and electronic centers, science laboratories, reading libraries, and music and sports programs established by JOI are now serving 6,000 youth daily.

JOI's youth education module also offers:

After-School Enrichment – JOI augments in-class studies with after-school tutorials and extracurricular courses in math, art and music.

Biotechnology, Robotics and Law
– JOI sends junior high school students into the laboratories and classrooms of leading Israeli universities for fascinating courses in cutting-edge technologies, whetting their interest to succeed in their learning.

Psychometrics Preparation – JOI sponsors high-school seniors in preparation courses for pre-university psychometrics exams, boosting their chances of university acceptance.

Additionally, JOI addresses the unique psycho-social issues affecting Russian immigrant children with these well-received initiatives:

Emotional Intelligence Enrichment Groups – JOI presents emotional-development workshops to help immigrant children from poor homes cope and build social skills, including: self-control, dealing with frustration and disappointment, managing anger, interpersonal communication, empathy, self-confidence, and positive self-image.

Crisis Intervention – Project Night Owls sends Russian-born youth counselors out to the streets at night to befriend and guide vulnerable teen immigrants in 17 cities across Israel.
